ABOUT
RECOVA is a Northern Ireland-based science and engineering company focused on developing innovative technologies to tackle water pollution and recover valuable resources from industrial waste streams.
Our primary focus is nutrient pollution. Excess phosphorus and nitrogen entering waterways can contribute to algal growth, oxygen depletion and the deterioration of freshwater ecosystems.
We develop selective recovery technologies designed to capture these nutrients at source, before they are released into the wider environment. Rather than treating them simply as waste, our approach is to recover and revalorise these materials, creating opportunities for their return to productive use.
Our initial technology focuses on the recovery of phosphate from agri-food wastewater, combining chemistry, materials science and process engineering to develop more efficient and circular approaches to wastewater treatment.
OUR EXPERTISE
RECOVA was founded by two PhD graduates of Queen’s University Belfast, with complementary expertise spanning environmental technologies, biotechnology, pharmaceutical process development and manufacturing.
Together, the founders have contributed to more than 20 industrial projects internationally, working across research, product and process development, troubleshooting, scale-up and manufacturing.
This combination of scientific research and industrial experience shapes RECOVA’s approach: developing technologies to work in the laboratory, also with industrial application and scale in mind from the outset.
Alongside our own technologies, RECOVA provides R&D, process development and scale-up support to companies facing complex technical challenges. We work with businesses to research and develop new products and processes, optimize existing technologies and translate promising concepts into scalable industrial solutions.
